Allianz Stadium was built in 1988 and was starting to struggle to stay competitive in the modern venues market. Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust needed Project Management services to assist them to develop and assess the options that were available for the venue to ensure it stayed relevant and sustainable long-term.
MI Associates initially developed an options assessment to determine the best solution for the stadium (project cost $130m to $1b). This assessment formed the basis of a Preliminary Business Case to government for funding. After securing funding, MI Associates were responsible for the procurement of the design team, brief development, design management and providing staging and disruption strategy options for the National Football Stadium (60,000 capacity). They were also responsible for coordinating and integrating the Allianz Stadium concept design into the Trust Precinct master plan.
The project successfully secured Concept Design funding following the submission of the Preliminary Business Case. The concept design developed for the NFS exceed the requirements of the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust (the Trust), including all commercial and quality benchmarks. The Masterplan developed provided a road map for the next 20 years of development at the Precinct, ensuring that the Trust continues to provide excellent experiences and economic benefit to the State into the future.
