CLIENT NEED
GL Events ExpoNet was seeking a Project Director to assist with the G20 Summit Australia, held in Brisbane in 2014.
MI SOLUTION
MI was appointed as the Project Director and through the use of existing, proven methodologies was able to successfully manage a team of approximately 1,200 staff including specialist design contractors, creative specialists, signage specialists, production and technology specialists and building and trades to deliver $12 million of temporary event overlay. The Project Director role included extensive client interface and client reporting, overseeing the day to day activities of the project office, design management, sub-contractor procurement, contract management, risks and issues management and quality assurances.
CLIENT OUTCOME
Largely acknowledged as the ‘friendliest’ and ‘best’ in G20 Summit history, world leaders and their delegations alike experienced the product of months of intense event planning and production. An estimated $12 million of temporary infrastructure was deployed over a 22-day period across a number of venues including the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, several city hotels, Brisbane Airport, Parliament House, offsite dinner locations and outdoor areas of Brisbane City.
