The Northern Territory Major Events Company were looking to understand the capital and ongoing costs associated with the provision of lights at the Hidden Valley Raceway. The information was required to assist with securing a long-term commitment from V8 Supercars to continue to host the races in the Northern Territory.
MI Associates undertook a detailed feasibility study which examined opportunities associated with the installation of either permanent or temporary lights at the Hidden Valley Raceway for both the racing circuit and associated areas. The study determined the ideal lighting design, the permanent and temporary power requirements, the capital and ongoing operational costs, the operational implications of hosting the race at night, the ideal procurement and delivery methodology and opportunities for using the assets elsewhere in the Northern Territory.
In June 2016 the V8 Supercars CEO and NT Chief Minister Adam Giles signed an agreement extending Supercars’ contract to 2030 in the Top End, with a five-year exclusivity to race under lights starting in two years.
