CLIENT NEED

In preparation for the 2011 Rugby World, Eden Park Trust and Rugby New Zealand 2011 needed to understand the operational planning and support capabilities of Eden Park and the integration within the wider precinct and Auckland City to ensure that the stadium would adapt to meet the specific requirements to successfully support the delivery of Rugby World Cup 2011.

MI SOLUTION

Utilising MI Associates’ extensive event experience, we undertook a detailed review of the stadium across three days including during a Blues v. Crusaders Super Rugby Fixture. The review assessed the activities associated with venue set-up and preparations, way-finding signage, spectator access and services, security operations, ticketing operations, food and beverage operations, venue communications, rugby services integration within the venue, broadcast and media operations and the venue team structure.

CLIENT OUTCOME

The outcome from the review resulted in a number of operational improvements made across all areas of the business, which enabled the venue to successfully host over 638,000 people across eleven matches during the 2011 Rugby World Cup, including both semi-finals and the Final.
