Sharon Markut, Associate Principal
Sharon is an Associate Principal of MI Associates with an MBA from the Graduate School of Business, UTS. Sharon has over 20 years’ experience in tourism, arts & cultural and sports business and facility development.
Sharon’s core competencies are in Strategy, Business Case & Business Planning, Project & Program Management, Facility Design Development, M&A Integration, Operational & HR Program Development, IT Systems Development and Change Management.
Sharon has extensive experience working in the planning and delivery of major tourism and Arts & Cultural projects, with specific expertise working with the Government and industry to deliver strategic sector and infrastructure related projects, providing business & business case development, operational planning, design management, procurement management and project advisory services.
Sharon is currently working with the NT Government to develop the 2030 Aboriginal Tourism Strategy and was directly responsible for Destination NSW’s Regional Conferencing Strategy and Action Plan 2017-2021, as well as the Destination NSW Cruise Plan. She has also delivered the Northern Territory Major Events Business and Event Development Strategies; Cultural Canberra Floriade and Enlighten Event Strategies; INSW and CREATE NSWs Walsh Bay Design, Business Case and Operational Planning, the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust Venues Review and Master Plan, and Commercial Planning for the Qatar Sports Venue Master Plan, amongst other projects.
Prior to joining MI Associates in 2008, Sharon worked within the Commercial department of Staging Connections Group Limited on various projects, including establishing and managing the Integration Project Management Oﬃce for mergers and acquisitions; as well as the development of IT ERP projects and HR programs or the business for the Asia-Pacific Region.
