Renewal Strategy & Project Management
The Sydney Opera House sought a Project Director to initially develop a plan to renew the Sydney Opera House. This plan became known as the Sydney Opera House Renewal Framework which includes a range of projects that cover all aspects of the Sydney Opera House including theatres, front of house, back of house and proposed new development projects. Following this Sydney Opera House required a Project Director to lead the delivery of the Renewal Framework.
MI Associates were appointed to develop the renewal strategy which became accepted by the Sydney Opera House Trust and the NSW Government as the Renewal Framework. MI Associates were then appointed as Project Director responsible for the delivery of Stage 1 of the Renewal Framework. The role included the delivery of $240m in priority projects including upgrades to the Concert Hall, Entry Foyer, Vehicle Concourse, a new Function Centre and Creative Learning Centre. The role involved extensive stakeholder consultation with internal and external stakeholders, procurement of a consulting design team, design management of Concept Designs, Business Case, Development Applications and to oversee the projects through the NSW State Gateway Review process.
As a consequence of the Renewal Framework, in March 2015 the NSW Government announced a further commitment of $202 million for a number of priority projects including the renewal of the Concert Hall, the renewal of performance support spaces, a new creative learning centre, a new function centre and a renewed public concourses and entry foyer.
